Imagine is hardly as good as Plastic Ono Band, besides Gimme Some Truth.

It's not even close - "Imagine" is actually pretty bland, while "Plastic Ono Band" is fantastic. Nor is "Band On The Run" anything other than an okayish Wings album - "Ram" is the best album in McCartney's catalogue.
Plastic Ono Band is clearly Lennon's greatest solo work, I'm not arguing against that. But I find Imagine to be better than almost anything McCartney has put out solo-career wise.

Now, saying its better than The Clash, well, no. Just no.

I'm more of a fan of McCartney's solo material, personally. Even at his sappiest he could still write awesome melodies, and while the goofy lyrics might turn off some I personally find that more appealing than some of Lennon's super-serious and often preachy lyrics.

The Clash - aside from their awesome debut I don't think they're all that great. I'd probably place them lower than George does on the band heirarchy, myself.

Well, we don't see eye to eye at all, do we? Someone once summed up each respective career as John kept trying to ignore The Beatles, Paul kept acknowledging that he was a Beatle, George kept trying to prove he could get away from the Beatles, and Ringo was just in awe of the entire situation.

I like the first three of Lennon's solo albums a lot more than Paul's work, mostly because I feel Paul went off and just tried to be a whimsical pop song writer. I understand that his knack for melody never went away, but its like his entire career was this big, cushy pop song writing spree. As if he never learned to branch out! Lennon developed his own persona and identity across those three albums, and they all sound a lot more immediate than anything the others did. I like the super-serious tone of Plastic Ono Band! I'd agree that George probably had the best career out of the Beatles, mostly because he proved you could show off guitar skills, melody, and a message, all while still having a softer, pop sound.

And Christgau once said Ringo wrote the best post-Beatles song of the four in the b-side "Early 1970." I don't think anyone is entitled to disagree.

The Clash are amazing. We will have to agree to disagree there. I don't like Sandanista! enough, and barring the chaos of Cut The Crap, the rest of their discography is enlightening and amazing. A punk/reggae/pop band with a message!
